I have been the Instruction Manager at a large credit card company for the last three years. I was first hired at the company as a customer service representative and thought I would only be there to finish my undergrad. I continued to find different areas of focus within the organization and found value in the company. I became a people leader after a couple of years and found my new passion to help develop people in their role to grow, develop and promote into new positions. It was rewarding to see those I coached move into high performing roles.
Now I have the opportunity to work with Instructors and Coaches who train new employees and skills classes for the tenure employees in operations (call center). I find tools and resources to help improve their experience in their role and assist them in their personal development. I work with others across the globe in order to calibrate and share practices that help improve the overall experience for our new employees.
So to answer the question… I’m a teacher as a leader and do my best to help improve peoples work experience. I share practices and new methods to help in the classroom. I also share materials and coaching to help people develop in their role. It’s rewarding to me, and though part of a large corporation, I find satisfaction in helping people succeed in their career.

It sounds like you have a rewarding job. It's nice to be able to watch people grow through the training you give them and know that you are helping them in their career.
Wow, talk about on the job training. It happens in so many different venues. It was interesting to read about it from an instructor's point of view.
It is amazing how far being a teacher stretches across jobs. Most would think of teachers as being tied to an institution dedicated to learning. However your role as a coach and mentor at a corporation is imperative tot he companies success.
Nice Sam. You are surely teacher and based on our interactions a good one. But, you must leave the dark side of corporations...
Good luck in your future coaching/teaching/mentoring. It is an interesting path you have gone down. I am curious to see what you do once you are finished with your schooling.
I started my career in HR and corporate training. It's a great journey.
AMEX is lucky to have you Sam!
